Cimarron Canyon State Park

Cimarron Canyon State Park stretches along the scenic Cimarron River between the villages of Eagle Nest and Ute Park on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, offering peaceful forested canyon landscapes and abundant outdoor adventures just a short drive from Angel Fire. The park is known for excellent trout fishing, miles of hiking and equestrian trails, wildlife viewing, picnic areas and quiet river access surrounded by ponderosa and mixed conifer forests.

Camping at Cimarron Canyon State Park includes several developed campgrounds — Tolby, Maverick, Ponderosa and the Black Jack tent area — with a total of roughly 94 sites for tents and RVs, plus plumbed restrooms with potable water (note: no electrical or sewer hookups). Some sites are reservable while others are available first-come, first-served, and all feature picnic tables, fire rings and grills for evening campfires (weather permitting). Spacious sites accommodate rigs up to ~40–50 ft depending on location, and the Tolby campground also houses the Visitor Center where you can get park info before heading out.
