Each summer, Balloons Over Angel Fire transforms the Moreno Valley skyline into a canvas of color. Watch dozens of hot air balloons lift off during breathtaking morning mass ascensions, then enjoy a full weekend of tethered rides, live music, community events, and family-friendly fun around Angel Fire.

What You Should Know Before You Go
Angel Fire Weather
June in Angel Fire brings beautiful mountain weather. Average daytime temperatures range from 60–70°F, while early mornings and evenings can dip into the 40s—especially during balloon launches.
How to Dress
The best way to dress in the mountains is in layers. Start with a light sweatshirt or sweater over a t-shirt or tank top so you can adjust as the day warms up. Sunglasses, a hat, and a rain jacket or small umbrella will help you stay comfortable if weather changes quickly.
All events are outdoors and casual mountain attire is perfect.
Best Viewing Tips for Mass Ascension
Morning balloon launches take place at the Angel Fire Airport and are best experienced up close. Gates open at 6:00 AM, and balloons typically launch between 6:30–9:00 AM, depending on weather conditions.
Arriving early gives you the best chance to watch the balloons inflate and lift off against the backdrop of the Moreno Valley—a truly unforgettable sight.
What to Bring to Tailgate at the Angel Fire Airport
Mass ascension mornings are a relaxed, bring-your-own-seating and food type of celebration. Lawn chairs, blankets, strollers, and wagons are all welcome.
Visitors are encouraged to tailgate, so pack a cooler and enjoy breakfast with friends and family while watching the balloons rise over the mountains.
Please note: Open flames are not allowed at the event, so plan accordingly. Pre-cooked foods that can be easily reheated or assembled on-site work great. Cold salads, sandwiches, wraps, chips, dips, and finger foods are all perfect options.
Parking & Arrival
Parking is available at the Angel Fire Airport, but spaces can fill quickly during peak mornings. Plan to arrive early and allow extra time for parking and walking to the viewing areas.

Balloon sightings, live music, the street fair and the farmers market are all FREE to attend. There will be food and beverages available for purchase, along with local art and produce.

Balloons Over Angel Fire offers incredible photo opportunities, especially during the early morning launches when colorful balloons glow against the mountain backdrop.
For the best photos, arrive early to capture the balloon inflation process and the soft morning light as the sun rises over the Moreno Valley.

Free Live Music in the Mountains
Celebrate the Balloons Over Angel Fire weekend with a special edition of the Summer Music Series. Enjoy an evening of live music at the Mountain View Event Center before the night sky fills with glowing hot air balloons during the Balloon Glow.
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, grab dinner from local food trucks, and enjoy craft beer and spirits while the music plays. With plenty of space on the lawn for kids to run and room to relax with friends, it’s the perfect way to spend a summer evening in Angel Fire.
After the concert, stick around as hot air balloons illuminate the field in a colorful Balloon Glow, creating a magical end to the evening.
